Koester Engineering

Koester Engineering offers both Electrical and Mechanical engineering disciplines. Our engineering department operates in a modern 10,000 square foot office here at Fox Run. Our engineers and drafting/design people are equipped with the latest computers and computer aided design software. All drawings are produced using AutoCAD, and all programming is performed using commercially available industrial software. Our Windows NT network ties all our engineering personnel together, achieving the maximum utilization of talent. We provide continuing education monthly for our staff, and we encourage continuing education with tuition refund and in-house educational opportunities. Many of our engineers maintain professional registration in Ohio, Michigan, Indiana, Pennsylvania, Utah, and Alabama. Below are some of the many engineering services we offer:

A.     Power Engineering -- We design and engineer complete industrial and commercial power systems from transmission voltage into main facility substations, indoor and outdoor substations, main switchgear and metering, medium voltage facility distribution, utilization voltage substations including switchgear and metering, utilization voltage distribution hardware, lighting system design as well as energy management and communication systems.

B.     Motor Control -- We design and engineer all types of motor systems from AC motor control centers, AC and DC variable speed drives, and medium voltage motor control.

C.     Programmable Controllers -- We design and program all major brands of PLCs beginning with AB PLC-5 series, SLC, and Micrologix PLCs, Modicon Quantum and 984 series, GE Fanuc 90-30 to 90-70 devices, Mitsubishi A series, Omron, Siemens/TI, and PLC/Automation Direct. We also have the experience and software to service many of the older PLCs, including the AB PLC-3 and PLC-2 series, Modicon 584 series, and GE series 1. We also design "softPLC" systems using PCs directly on the factory floor.

D.    Man Machine Interface (MMIs) -- We design and program the major MMI equipment including AB PanelView, TCP QuickPanel, Cutler Hammer/Eaton PanelMate, Exor, and Nematron just to mention a few.

E.     Software Engineering -- We are expert system integrators for Wondeware InTouch and Rockwell Software RS View 32. We can service older software packages such as AB ControlView, and RSI's Wintelligent View. We can provide customized software applications for monitoring, control, and data acquisition using Microsoft Visual Basic on Windows 98 and NT platforms. ODBC, Microsoft SQL Server, and Microsoft Office are also used in development of custom packages so our software is compatible with existing client software systems.

F.      Process Control -- We design all types of process control systems from the simplest discrete instrumnet systems, to the most complex DCS systems. We encourage the expanded use of PCs and PLCs, coupled with the available MMIs for most medium level process control systems.

G.    Mechanical Machine Design -- We design and engineer automatic and semi-automatic machines for many industrial applications. Our machines assemble and test plastic containers, form and weld metal parts, perform various forming and gauging functions, and handle various products through a specific process.

H.    Tooling Design -- We design and detail all types of replacement tools, jigs, gauges, and wear parts.
